The reason I blog...

"You will have significant experiences. I hope that you will write them down and
keep a record of them, that you will read them from time to time and refresh
your memory of these meaningful, significant things. Some of them may be funny.
Some may be of significance only to you. Some of them may be sacred and quietly
beautiful. Some may build one upon another until they represent a lifetime of
special experience."

Temple Square

Last Saturday, Joey had to work during the day so my sister-in-law, Amber, and I decided to take the kids on Trax downtown to Temple Square. It was such a beautiful day! We ended up going on one of the tours...which is something I haven't done since I was little. It was only about a 1/2 hour...so the kids did fairly well! They really liked looking at all the pictures of Jesus! Here are some of the pictures from our outing...a few out of about 60 that I took that day!!Clayton, Me, Aspen, Amber and Rachel

Draper Temple Open House

We got tickets from the ward to go to the new Draper Temple's open house last Saturday! I went with my sister-in-law, Amber and her friend Jenny. We also each brought a kid...which always makes things interesting! I brought Clayton with me, and Joey took Aspen to her skating lessons. Everyone meets at this stake center to watch a movie and then takes a bus up to the Temple. The tour started at 11 am...which is also right around lunch and nap time!! So Clayton was pretty cranky/anxious at the stake center. It didn't help that it was like a hundred degrees in the room that we were watching the movie in. Anyways, when we finally got on the buses to go up to the Temple Clayton kept saying he was "so es-sited"!! He absolutely loved the ride on "Le Bus"! Me and my Buddy!
Amber & Rachel, Jenny & baby Rome (he was only 3 weeks old! So cute!)

The Temple of course was beautiful and such an easy place to feel the spirit! I found myself getting teary eyed as I walked through all the rooms. Clayton's favorite was the Font (oxen) and one of the Ordinance rooms with an elk mural and my favorite were the Bridal and Celestial rooms. The tour is silent the whole way until the very end...they have signs up explaining what each room is. Well, we were in one of the Instruction rooms and Clayton starts talking about his "truck"! If any of you have a 2 your old you know what's coming! His "tr" sounds a lot like "f"...so you can imagine what he's saying in the Temple! So I'm trying to get him to be quiet and I'm saying, "Yes your car"...and he just gets frustrated and belts out "NOOO...F****! Which he was trying to say truck! It was awful...I was SO embarrassed, but also laughing because it just was so funny! I'm so glad that the people around us were so understanding!

I'm so glad Clayton could go with me! I think he had fun and I think he really liked the two chocolate cookies he helped himself to afterwards! ;) It was so cute...when we were leaving I was talking to him about it and I said to him, "are you gonna marry a cute girl here someday?" and he answered so matterafact , "Yep"! Thanks Buddy for sharing such a special day!

Happy Late Birthday!

This post is truely late! I feel so bad that I never posted earlier to wish my hubby a Happy 26th Birthday! We had a small get together with family for cake and ice-cream...here are some pictures from our fun night!

Here's all of us rockin' out playing Rock Band! My sister Leah singing so well!

Happy Birthday Joey! We love you!

Snow Plow Sam

Aspen has been taking ice skating lessons on Saturday mornings for a few weeks now! She is doing really well and it is so fun to watch her progress! She is in the Snow Plow Sam class and is mastering some pretty sweet skills! She can now sit and stand up both off and on ice, march in place, march forward, glide on two feet, dip in place, march forward across the ice, perform two foot glides and dips while moving, and hop in place. She's really working on her speed right now so that she can glide farther!Clayton being a good boy, watching his sister!
At first I thought that she might be following in Joey's and my sisters foot steps (both are hockey player's) but I think she's got more of her Mom's genes in her than her Dad's!! After watching all the figure skaters, she really really wanted a "short" skirt like them...so we went to Khol's and we found her a cute little dancer leotard! Now the problem is making sure she has warm tights and wears a jacket over it! If it was up to her she'd be out there in only her little leotard!
These are her favorite striped tights!!

I'm so proud of her for trying the skating lessons again and she seems to really love them! We've even talked about her maybe doing the Spring Ice Show! But, whatever she chooses to do as she get's older I just want her to know that we love and support her! I can't believe how big our little girl is getting!

#55

We found out a couple months ago that Joey's Grandma has a spot in her ear which ended up being cancerous. She went to the hospital a couple of weeks ago to have her first chemo treatment. We thought it would be nice for all the girls to make her a lap quilt to take to the hospital. Well, my #55 of my 101 in 1001 was to make someone a quilt...I know it's probably cheating a little because I didn't make it on my own...but I'm still counting it! Maybe I'll get ambitious and still make one on my own?!
It was interesting trying to pick out the fabric together with 4 different opinions...but we finally decided on some really pretty fabrics! Here are some pictures of the process...
