The reason I blog...

"You will have significant experiences. I hope that you will write them down and
keep a record of them, that you will read them from time to time and refresh
your memory of these meaningful, significant things. Some of them may be funny.
Some may be of significance only to you. Some of them may be sacred and quietly
beautiful. Some may build one upon another until they represent a lifetime of
special experience."

Great Gramma Lucille

My sweet great- gramma passed away on Mother's Day. Here is a copy of her obituary...
Lucille Coburn Gyllenskog

Lucille Gyllenskog passed away on Sunday, May 10, 2009, at Nyssa Gardens at the age of 92 years. Her two sons were present at the time of her passing. Lucille was born March 5, 1917, in Wellsville, Utah, to parents Fred Leatham Coburn and Celia Hill Coburn. She was the oldest daughter of nine children. At the age of 17, Lucille married James Read Gyllenskog on Jan. 21, 1935, in Preston, Idaho. Read passed away on Nov. 29, 1991, at home in Nyssa, Ore. Lucille is survived by her two sons, Jerry Read Gyllensog, of Parma, Idaho, and Douglas Coburn Gyllenskog, of Salem, Ore.; two brothers, Seth Coburn, of Mendon, Utah, and Melvin Coburn, of Deweyville, Utah; two sisters, Colleen Sorensen, of Rigby, Idaho, and Marie Blauer, of Logan, Utah. She has six grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren and six great-great-grandchildren. Lucille was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served for many years in the Nyssa 1st Ward Relief Society presidency. She honored her family with many quilts and afghans that they treasure. She was a great cook who often liked to share with friends and family. Her family would like to express their heartfelt appreciation to the staff at Nyssa Gardens for the loving care given to Grandma Lucille during the past three years, and Diana McGhee, XL Hospice, for her assistance during the last days. Viewing will be at 9 a.m. Saturday, May 16, 2009, at the Nyssa LDS Stake House, 1309 Park Ave., Nyssa, Ore. Services will be at 10 a.m. Interment will follow at Hilltop Memorial Cemetery, Nyssa. We were able to go up to Nyssa, OR for her funeral. It was definitely sad, but also sort of a blessing. She was away from Great Grampa Read for about 19 years and I'm sure it was a sweet reunion for them both! It was really nice to see some of my extended family that I hadn't seen in years (like 15!!) And it was nice for Joey to finally meet some of my crazy family!! We had a great time and I was so happy that my brother and sister were able to make the trip with us!

More pictures from our trip later...
